Doug Berky, a graduate of Furman University, has been a physical theatre performer since the late 1970s, working with companies such as the Montanaro Mime Theatre, Two Penny Circus, and the touring theatre of the National Technical Institute for the Deaf. Since 1983, Doug has worked as a solo artist, performing and teaching throughout the United States as well as in a variety of international settings. His solo work has been presented in schools, colleges, festivals, and faith-based organizations. Doug’s studio, The Berkshop, is in the Holly Springs Center where he offers workshops in performing theatre arts, circus skills, and mask making.

SPRING WORKSHOPS AT THE BERKSHOP, HOLLY SPRINGS CENTER
INTRODUCTION TO MASK MAKING SATURDAYS,APRIL 21, 28, MAY 5, 12 9AM -12 noon This workshop will introduce participants to general concepts of mask making, including design, sculpting with clay, casting and molding with plaster, forming masks with papIer mache’ and other materials, painting and finishing masks.Each participant will complete the workshop with a plaster cast of their face and at least one papier mache’ mask. All materials will be provided. Fee:$120 “THROWING UP” (JUGGLING) AND OTHER CIRCUS ANTICS SATURDAYS, APRIL 21, 28, MAY 5, 12 2PM - 3PM This workshop will focus on how to juggle with an introduction to other circus skills, such as balancing and unicycling.
